...and the start of my self-employed week.
From 5:30pm today my time became my own.
I have already compiled a to-do list for the next four days which, in addition to freelance work also includes cleaning every surface in the house as the plumber forgot to close the bathroom door while he was taking up some concrete - 2.5 hours later the fine dust has made it to every room in the house. The kitchen is particularly bad.
I also have some painting to finish in the bathroom, the floors and rugs downstairs need cleaning with the vax (ground in dust again), and some rearranging of the back bedroom needs to happen in preparation for a new chest of drawers. I say new, but you should know by now that 'new' actually means 'new to me'.
In fact, it is an antique chest of drawers that was abandoned after its owners did a moonlight flit, owing their landlord rent and leaving their belongings. He cleared the house, dumped it by the side of the road, my father came upon it, recognised it as having some serious age, and rescued it.
After showing it to an antiques restorer, the dating was confirmed to about the 1780s so Georgian. The restorer has had it for a few days, cleaning and polishing it, and fixing a broken handle, and thinks he will be ready to drop off later this week.
I'm delighted as I've been looking for something vintage in good condition for my household linens and textiles to go in for a while, but was balking at paying a fortune for a linen press, antique or otherwise.
In the end the furniture found me instead of the other way round.
What about strawberry ice-cream or sorbet? I'm going to have a go with my 'unwanted' strawberries.

That sounds really lovely sandra. I've only ever tried making blackberry icecream and that was so tart I made sourpuss faces as I was eating so I think I did something wrong.
I actually served a lot of strawberries up the other might with a meringue and whipped cream, and that was pretty tasty. The meringue made it taste a bit different.
