A quick trip to the supermarket this morning yielded an interesting find in the meat section. Not quite half price but good enough. Rather than have dinner tonight I split it into two and put one half in the oven for lunch this afternoon. The other half went in the freezer.
While it was cooking, I had a rearrange of my pigsty of a polytunnel and did some basic housekeeping. It looked much better after I finished.
I staked and pruned my tomatoes, and potted on the chillis, peppers, brussel sprouts, kale, and extra tomatoes. Moved the big tubs of lettuce outside to cool off a bit and stop them bolting.
I repotted my cucumbers and set up a trellis ready for them to climb when they get to the top of their stake (they'll be repotted into bigger pots before then!)
I potted up a sweet potato that I found sprouting in the veg basket a few months ago and that I've been nurturing ever since. I divided it into three, each piece with healthy growing plantlets, and I'm hoping for three or four potatoes per plant.
A spot of weeding, then some harvesting and I was done for the day.
All that's left for us now is to eat the fruits of our labour over the last few months.
