Even if you do get a new machine, try to keep your new and improved habit of wearing clothes more and putting the machine on less, that will be a win win for you both. When I was young washing day, in the whole village, was Monday so clothes, bedding etc were changed on the Sunday. But then washing took hours, lighting a fire under the copper boiler, putting everything through the mangle, very labour intensive. I still try to stick to one washing day a week though which day it is depends on the weather. Luckily the sun is out now and the Bosch is bosching.


interesting post. Our machine packed up this week after 12 years and a few repairs. I like your idea of simplifying by using the laundrette but for me i think it just wouldn't work with 2 grubby kids. i think it would actually make life more complicated as i'd have to fit in a couple of trips to the laundrette each week. good on you for doing it though, i think if it was just the 2 of us i'd be tempted
