Thanks to all of you who entered to win a copy of Frontier House. A lot of interesting answers! I'm definitely with Theresa and Kim on their choices:
I would take my sewing machine to ensure I could make all the clothes, quilts, curtains etc that we needed.
It would have to be my trusty hot water bottle, to keep me warm in winter, ease aches & pains from a hard days work, tummyache at "that time" and then filled with ice cold stream or well water when a heat pack is no good. Also cuddle up to on a cold winters night.
I understand completely where Katherine and Viggie are coming from about wanting their computers. I never realised before just how much I rely on my computer for information. Over the last 24 hours, I've used it to find out how to cook a gammon joint in a slow cooker, find shrubs for a shady spot, figure out what to do with the beef blood drained off from a joint, what popular songs were around when my FIL was born and how to eradicate chicken lice.
Finally I love Forest Garden Girl's answer!
So what would I take?
Modern thermal underwear. No joke, I remember reading somewhere that in those days the underwear was wool and I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be the fine weaving techniques we might have around today. I can't imagine being in the depths of winter with itchy wool bloomers that stayed damp if you perspired into them. Double yuck. No, it has to be modern thermals made of a nice wicking fabric that take the sweat away from the body and leave you nice and dry.
So who won the book then?
Ok, ok...I'll put you out of your misery. Although nine of your commented, Becky and Theresa blogged about the giveaway so they got an extra entry. Putting everything in order of time when the comments were left and then using the random number generator the winner is....
