As the weather has warmed up, Fleagle was given her summer haircut this morning, which is mostly just a case of shaving her fur to about half an inch over her back and sides.
Her breed means she is optimised for winter, with a long top coat and double undercoat. Come the summer, she is very uncomfortable and despite regular grooming the double undercoat matts horribly.
Normally she fights, but today she sat there as good as gold as we took her coat off. After treats she took herself off to lie foat out on the cool kitchen tiles. So happy!
I weighed her this morning as well, and am pleased to report that she is now 16lbs. We started her on a diet last February when she weighed 18.4lbs and she immediately lost a pound that month, but then has slowed right down to a crawl. Slow is best for cats but it can be a right old slog sometimes when you can't see any change on the scales for a month and even then it is just a few grams.
She's still got at least another pound to go before she's at the top end of a healthy range for her type of cat, so probably another year of careful eating, but she's venturing out a lot more now and getting some exercise.
What about the pigs? They are big and lovely! Key skill being learnt by them last week was the art of keeping cool. Which meant fighting for dominance in the water trough!
