It probably hasn't escaped your notice I've been a bit scarce around here of late. Sorry about that. It's not for lack of anything to say (I could never be accused of that!), but simply because I have had so much to get through that I needed to focus on working hard. When I did relax I didn't want to spend that time on the computer.
In between working hard I managed to fit in a two week holiday to Spain and France, staying in friends' villas on both occasions. The views were pretty good.
But there have been dramas to balance that two weeks away, and these are only the edited highlights. Over the next few weeks I'll post little bits here and there about each one with pictures.
The dreaded red mite struck while we were away so we had to buy a new coop the day after we came back (thank god for savings and an inbuilt desire for frugality even while on holiday). Nothing we do now seems to touch it and the chickens were suffering.
While we were resting, the garden decided not to sit on its laurels and went nuts. The mange tout were only about 1.5 foot high when I left with the odd flower. When we got back they were waist high with huge number of pods ready for harvesting. The amount of fruit we are going to get this year will surpass anything we've had before, especially the apple trees.
Marybelle had a prolapsed vent last weekend. It basically means the inside of the entrance to her vent swelled up and came out of her. A few days of bathing, haemorroid cream and stuffing it back in seemed to work and she laid a few eggs and seemed on. This morning, it's happened again so its back to the drawing board. I won't be posting a picture of the prolapse because it's not nice and a brief search on google images will show you everything you need to know.
Last week we also bought a Fiat 500. I blogged three years ago about going to the launch of the new Fiat 500, and how we were going to get one. Well finally after saving hard for three years we have - but a classic little number which has been newly restored instead of a brand new one. All things considered, we felt the classic one would be easier to maintain as Martin has owned/restored six before and that it would hold its price better and possibly even appreciate given time. We pick it up next weekend.
Finally, as for my goals which I haven't updated lately, I'll do those in a couple of days, but it will be brief. I felt I was becoming a goal bore by writing great reams of stuff on each one so I want to keep it in proportion.
I also want to share some new websites and blogs I've found over the last few months.
Take care and I'll see you in a few days.
